Teen Found With Loaded Handgun, 'Substantial Amount' Of Cocaine In Western Mass, Police Say

A 17-year-old boy is facing drug and firearm charges after police in Western Massachusetts said he was found in possession of a loaded handgun and a "substantial amount" of cocaine.

The Pittsfield Police Department in Berkshire County received a report about a teenager who was in possession of a firearm on Monday, Sept. 19, police said.

The teenager, whose identity was not released, was arrested shortly after the arrest warrant was issued and found in possession of cocaine, a handgun, and a "large quantity" of cash, police said.

Authorities said he was charged with:

  • Carrying a loaded firearm without a license
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID Card
  • Trafficking in cocaine
  • Possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Violation of probation

His arraignment was set for Tuesday, Sept. 20, police said. 

Pittsfield Police said this is the sixth time the department has arrested a juvenile for firearms charges in the past six months.
